Brought into force in 2016, the WSA is BC's modern water law. It provides new tools for water protection and governance and updates BC's strategy for protecting, managing and using water. 

Nadleh Whut'en and Stellat'en First Nations have formally enacted a Surface Water Management Policy and a Guide to Surface Water Quality Standards for their territories, grounded in their own laws. 

 

Living Water Smart is British Columbia's vision for sustainable water stewardship. The plan sets targets for all British Columbians to work towards protecting our water resources, using water more efficiently and ensuring that water is available for public health, economic development, and environmental sustainability.
